Does anyone known where to buy EKG or Fuggles hop plugs from.Green hops not brown. Am I right to assume that a hop plug is just compressed hops, not minced or ground up as in pellets?. Has anyone tried using a nylon bag for pellet use and if so what did you think of the end result?.
Whenever I buy vac pack EKG or Fuggles they seem not to be in great condition. Hop plugs in photo's look great or are they?.
I would like to use some pellets in my 50 litre brews, maybe for 15 min additions. Could I have your advice on hop additions please?.
Thanks for any feedback

Re: Hop Plugs
Faram's do plugs, only in 5kg bags though. I think they average 14g per plug, really intended for dry hopping in the cask rather than in the boil. To be honest they're not going to be any better than the vac pac you already buy. Don't worry about colour too much as Fuggles and Goldings are usually a bit browner than others.
You can use pellets but your filter system needs to be up to it, unless you're not fussed about cloudy beer. I only ever use pellets to dry hop, as whole leaf in the boil gives a much better filter bed when casting out to the FV.
