Magnum as dry hop

Post by winka » Thu Apr 25, 2013 9:42 am

Morning all, has anyone tried magnum as a dry hop?
In m haste and love of Sierra Nevada Pale I went and ordered Magnum and Perle thinking I could dry hop with them. After a bit Internet investigation turns out its bad to dry hop with.
If I wanted to adapt a kit to use it woul I have to make a tea with it and add it same time as the fermentables and before the yeast.
I have no clue about early hops and only just experimenting with dry hopping in kits so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Magnum is a bittering hop - the flavour & aroma of SNPA comes from Cascade, you could try but it wont taste anything like SNPA.

Yeah, cheers, Ive just set a brew away and I just steeped 15g of Magnum for 20 min and added it with the malt and fermentables.
I'll dry hop with the Cascade and Perle, dont think i'll get anywhere near a SNPA but hopefully I'll still get a nice hoppy beer.
Cheers
