Hops for sale (Sold)

Post by Vossy1 » Mon Jul 30, 2007 9:28 pm

I have just received 5 kg each Styrian Golding (AA 3%) and East Kent Goldings (AA 4.2%) from Charles Faram

I only need 2 kg of each so I am looking to sell the rest, 3kg of each hop.
I am selling the hops at cost plus the price of a padded envelope :!:

The Styrians will be £11 for 1kg inc p+p.
The EKG will be £12.85 for 1kg inc p+p.

Postage will be via standard parcels. I can send 1st class recorded but the price for each hop will be increased.

Pm me if your interested 8)

1kg of each taken.

The hops will be sent vac packed, provided I get my vac packer in time :?

I still have about 1kg of Goldings and the same of Fuggles so none for me but I'm interested to know what vacuum machine you are using and where you got it?

Hi EB, I haven't got it yet

Been doing a lot of pricing around. The only place locally that does one for pick up is Lakeland but it's £70
There are professional catering suppliers but the machines are prohibitively expensive.
I rang Cost Co tonight to see if they have any. They don't but the lady told me that Poundstretcher have one in at the mo for £20.
I've been on E-Bay and the cheapest inc p+p are dearer than the PS one.
I intend to vacuum pack my hops in 100g lots for ease of use.
One key concern for me is the cost of new rolls of tubing for the heat sealer.
There is a princess model on E-Bay that's cheap as chips and has the best value replacement rolls, 2 x 5m rolls for £10.49

I'll have to find one soon it's just a case at what cost :?

Vac packer now ordered, it should be with me by weekend, so all hops orders will be sent vac packed

1kg Styrians and 2kg's EKG still up for grabs

What 10kg of hops looks like

Went for this vac packer EB as the price of the replacement rolls is more reasonable than most

(except the princess model on e-bay)

Not bad I guess - can't justify the cost myself though - I'd like to hack down my 1kg or goldings and 1kg of fuggles into 100g packs so that I don't have to keep exposing the main pack to the air each time I want some to brew...

I must admit it was painful parting with the cash, but I can also use it for my fishing baits so that makes it a bit easier.
I'll also be splitting my hops into 100g packs for ease of use
We also buy our meat in bulk from Costco so I guess that's another application for it

Only 1kg of EKG and 1kg of Styrians left now :!:

Ha ha ha ha I reckon you'd have them calling round periodically to ensure the liquids you put in them aren't explosive! You'd probably get charged with making explosive liquids if your styrian stunners are as potent as this one - I've been ridiculously over served this evening!

For my second brew it's brilliant but my fourth (sneakily tasted today) was even better! The one I'll brew tomorrow is going to be pubworthy I can feel it

Edit: I'm over in Manchester Thursday / Friday next week can you recommend any decent boozers near the Salfods Quays - I couldn't bloody find any

Have you done anything differently on the subsequent brews J_P :?:
