Hi All
I was just wondering what your collective favourite Noble Hop was
I intend to use the winner in a lager beer.
Cheers

JP: Probably a plan to say which Hallertauer hop you had in mind; Hersbrucker I take it...

I'm slightly embarrassed to say that I don't know which one, I took the list from Wikipedia. I've only just got my head around the uses and varieties of English hops

I went for mittlefruh, but its actually hallertauer mittlefruh, i think.
Haven't brewed with Teetnang or spalter for that matter.

Hallertau is a region near Munich where they grow hops. Whenever I've asked Munich brewers what hops they used they all just say 'Hallertau' with no elaboration on the variety.
Saaz is my favourite.

If it's for a Lager Mrs H prefers Saaz herself, so this vote is on her behalf!

For a first lager you can't go far wrong with Saaz. But the others are fine hops too.

Voted for Tettnanger although we don't use a lot of it anymore, although Saaz comes in a very close second.

Saaz is a hands down /no brainer, always a winner with that aroma.
However I voted tettnanger as its great for wheaties and is interesting as a single hop pale ale hop.

I've heard it suggested that the storage properties of Saazer are poor and my one experience of it would back that up. So if you do choose Saaz perhaps best to buy from current years crop and keep in the freezer. OK applied to any hop, but especially for Saazer.

I've found this to be the case in two beers of mine where I used Saaz. Does it come in pellet form? It might store better...

I had a couple of pints of Rudgates Hallertauer last night and it was quite tasty. I'm not sure if it was a lager or lager beer but I'd hazard a guess that it had Hallertauer hops in it though

Brupaks had Saaz, First Gold, Hersbrucker, Cascade, Goldings, Styrians and Fuggles in pellets a couple of weeks ago - your dealer should be able to get them

Might be worth bearing in mind that the current years crop of Saaz are way down on AA%. Something in the 2.x% I believe so you'd need some more...
I like them all in one beer or another but for a lager, by which I assume you mean a pale european lager, I'd pluck for Saaz or one of the Hallertaus...
