Citrus Flavours
I added 25g fuggles hops at the end of the boil on a brew I made recently and now I am drinking it I taste the citrus like flavour I have tasted in lots of commercial brews.I m not over keen on this flavour, is this citrus flavour the type that all hops leave when put in at the end? or do some have more citrus flavour than others? If I don't like this flavour maybe I should not add hops at the end at all or just avoid certain varieties,if so which ones

american varieties are said to have a citrus aroma like cascade, chinook, colombus. but fuggles... ive never had that my self. i always regarded them as earthy, spicy maybe herbal.
Id try goldings like daab suggested and bramling cross give a nice earthy aroma (never quite got the reputed blackcurrants out yet). a good mans hop is northern brewer. no wishywashy flowers and lemons there.

Just a quick check. Are we talking about an acid taste like say lemon juice on the front/side of the tongue or an aroma that smells of grapefruit or other citrus fruit.I taste the citrus like flavour
Sounds pedantic, but it's not unusual for brewers to get advice based on a non-standard description. The best was "my beer smells astringent - what should I do". People posted all the usual stuff about not sparging too hot, not grinding too fine, acid treatment of sparge water. Nobody pointed out that astringency can't be smelled! So whatever the fellow's problem was it wasn't astringency.
Fuggles, Willammette( a fuggle derivative grown in USA) Styrian golding ( a fuggle grown in slovenia) Have always displayed a muted citrus flava to my palate, similar to marmalade/orangey type .Not overt like a yank hop but more subtle. Cascade is a fuggle cross also.
I loves em all.
goldings are to perfumy and girly for my taste( heresy I know).

Its not an aroma Dave...slightly orangy is a good description of what I am getting at.Its only slight but I detected it straight away as I am not too keen on it in large amounts.Having said that I have finished the keg now
.I just want to avoid that taste if I can so I was interested in which hops gave it.Some beers I have tasted really have an over powering citrus flavour that I know lots of others enjoy but if I can avoid I will .

Consider:Its not an aroma Dave
if you don't like it really strongly I'm not convinced it is hop - have you ever had a similar reaction to a commercial beer?
fruity character - not usually citrus, but I've had apricot, can arise from warm fermentation
where you sense it - and look at the corresponding mouth feel
do you dislike citrus fruit? If you do and don't like this may not be citrus.
Yw o things might be working together - as I hinted acid on the tongue +fruit might lead you to 'cirtus'
did you get anyone else to try it? I know a sumber of brewing outfits where SWMBO is the better taster, even if sho doesn't drink beer.
