Are my homegrown hops worth brewing with?
Re: Are my homegrown hops worth brewing with?
Some interesting idea. I think I'll give it a try this year otherwise I'm going to have to do about 7 brews in a short space of time to use them all up as green hops.
I'm cheap. Just give me beer.

I've dried mine for a few years. I just spread them out on newspaper in the spare room and leave them for a few days. I never looked up what was best to do, but this turns out fine. The bugs tend to fall / fly off over that period too.
I planted fuggles so already a low AA, and I think mine have a lower AA still. That means there's a stronger than usual 'green matter' taste when I use them.

Never enough time...

Goldings(Cobb type) and Northdown here in South Devon. Dried in airing cupboard and then frozen in one ounce vacuum packs. The amount of sticky lupulin is immense when compared to foil packed hops I have purchased.
