Star Hops

Post by Les_Howarth » Fri Apr 28, 2023 12:54 pm

Does anyone have any information on Star hops beyond what is available here? https://essentiallyhops.co.uk/product/h ... ants/star/

I planted one of these in my garden last year and it is now growing. I know it is a bit early but I'm wondering what beer I should brew with this when (hopefully) I get some hops off it later this year...

Treat it like any other Continental hop - Tettnang, Hersbrucker, Savjisnki etc - so any kind of Continental style, but it would be logical for it to be something Belgian and a bit old-fashioned. Something like cloning De Koninck would give you a fairly unobstrusive background to see what it was bringing, or a lager.

I've just come across this - on the basis of a fairly crude genetic fingerprint, these guys reckon Star is a Fuggle clone (or at least a very close cousin) :
