Following the instructions on this forum for splitting a Wye Yeast pack, I've split one into 3 12ml tubes. I would now like to brew with one of these, but am not sure what size starter steps to use. Can anyone suggest what size starter steps to use? I want to pitch WLP530 into a 5 gallon batch of 1.067 SG.
Thanks
Julia

Re: Yeast starter step sizes
Im sure this isnt scientific
but I'd personally use the size of conical flasks I have in stock - 100ml > 500ml >1000mls (and up to 2000mls if it was a high gravity wort)

Re: Yeast starter step sizes
Generally you step up by 10 times so 120 ml then 1200ml and if you were being fussy 12L . . . Although I'd probably only do a 5l max. . . Lagers get an extra step at 20L
