Hybrid kit/turbo cider?

Post by johnmac » Mon Jul 30, 2007 12:10 pm

In the same way that a beer kit can be improved by using malt extract instead of sugar, I wonder if anyone has tried making a cider kit with apple juice in place of the added sugar?

I guestimate about 10L of apple juice will provide the sugar which would have come from a kilo of Silver Spoon, so kit = £8.00, + 10 apple juice = £13.80 for five gallons. All apple juice would work out at just a bit more than that with the yeast, so I'll definitely give it a go.

The kit/juice cider is really good. Better than TC and some would say, better than the stuff from fresh apples.

Hybrid cider is the future!

do you have a list of names
Yes, but it it is a short list :D
I admire your self control letting it mature for 4+ month
It's easy when you have 20 gallons of beer to get through first!
