Holy Exploding DJ. Batman!

Hey folks

Anyone know why the hell this happened, I left a kit wine fermenting, about 3/4 of the way full, it was all calm, just bubbles up the side, I picked it up to fill it up with water after 2 days, and it started frothing like crazy, erupting through the air lock, went on for about 20 seconds, any idea why ?

Are you fermenting in plastic? If you move the fermenter, you'll slightly distort the shape of the fermenter by doing so and that will displace gas out of the airlock. If I have to move a plastic fermenting vessel (is that what you blokes use the initials FV for?), I remove the airlock, move the fermenter and then relocate the airlock.

Trough Lolly's reasoning still holds, even if you don't distort the vessel. By moving it, the liquid may be shaken, just enough to force CO2 out of solution. (Since movement implies energy applied to the system.)
Secondary FV: As yet unnamed Weizenbock ~7%
Bulk aging: Soodo: Grocery store grape juice wine experiment.
Drinking: Evan Williams bourbon, Dewar's Scotch (white label), VO Canadian whisky. Various Sam Adams beers.

Alright, that makes sense, thanks!
