TC. with a few questions???

Just wondered? I notice that the TC is hardly bubbling now, but the grated apple as not fallen, do I need to wait till most of them have fallen, or can I go a head and rack it off?

ah go ahead and rack then. mine generally falls out tho there are always a few big bits still floatin

To be honest Dreadskin, I think they are begining to sink, the thing seems to be a little darker from below the grated apples, and as you get nearer the bottom of the DJ it starts to lighten up, so I might rack it of tonight, leaving the grated apples behind, did sneak a little taste of it using a straw, and have to say! that I think considering it only cost me about £3.00 it's going to be well worth it, and do you know what, I've had bags of fun doing it! I might post a pic in a couple of days to show you what she looks like, well just to get your thoughts on it!!!

It's now safely in 10, 1/2 litre coke bottles, and is begining to clear, I might sample one this weekend, have if I like? then shall start another one straight away, I think it will come out at about 8 ABV. Is there away of making it a little stronger, but avoid making it to dry?

Do you mean the demijohns, or the 1/2 litre coke bottles? Demijohns cost about £5er, but am told their not making anymore this year, so if you see them? grab them, the coke bottles are just kept by our friends, we wash them out, place the tops back on, and when its time to use them, we sanitise them, i'm trying to get hold of a bottle of star san at the moment, as you don't need to rinse with that,£699 a bash, but their out of stock at the moment, yours looks good, do you find that plastis bottles okay for your TC?

I find plastic fine for TC, it will be racked once, then bottled in 1.5 litre coke bottles

Well as I said there a £5er each, and I've been told that there not making anymore this year, not sure if that's a load of cobs wollop, but they do have 2 dipples in the neck, which I guess is for the swing type closer, can't say I've seen any anywhere, but if I do. will probably get them, coz I suppose I could store drink in them then?

I have about 20 empty 2 litre scrumpy bottles, but I havent got any bungs that fit them, i've been told I can get a pet bottle bung? and an optic bung? and they fit together

When I was in the hbs this morning, I did see 5L pet bottles with the cap already drilled, ready for an air lock,£1.26, not sure if thats cheap, I think I'd just use the water bottles with a balloon with a pin prick in it, you could do that with your 2L scrumpy bottles, you could buy a bag of party balloons and get them all on the go at the same time
