I know there is a thread regarding Dandelion beer, but im wondering if anyone has tried Dandelion wine using the heads?
I found a recipe....
ingredients:
lots of dandelions (heads only) about a bucket full
two kettles of boilling water
juice of 2 lemons
1kg sugar
a teaspoon of yeast
Just wondering if anyone has tried this before?
Dandelion wine
Re: Dandelion wine
Im just about to bottle my dandelion wine, Its quite nice the dandylions give quite a nice taset to the wine.
In the recipes I'v seen and what I did was only use the pettles!!!
Its a realy pain but all the green bit are very bitter.
I was planing to do 5 gallon but only ended up doing 2 because it was so time consuming.
plus I put ginger in mine
well worth the time though, very nice wine

Re: Dandelion wine
Hi, Randomdave.
I made a gallon of dandelion wine to a similar recipe a month ago and it is still fermenting away steadily. It has build up a good sediment so far, so I'm planning on racking it off and putting it in the cupboard for a few more months. The recipe I had suggested that it should be OK for Xmas, but better if left longer. Perhaps we can drink a bottle or two next year while picking the next batch of flowers.
