Just started my first TC copying a recipe from this forum. I'm using an old brubox as the fermenter, hopefully there's not too much headspace. Can anyone with experience let me know if I'll need to decant to avoid the yeast or whether it'll be possible to drink it straight from the polypin?
Started with this lot:
I don't normally have my tea this strong:
Waiting for fermentation to start:

Re: TC pictures
I've got nothing really useful to say, but I love that airlock arrangement!
Re: TC pictures
Looks good, how much Apple juice did you use and any more pictures to add?
Re: TC pictures
Big Al, what would you like pictures of? (Brewing related answers only...
) As to the "recipe," I used:
4L apple juice
0.75 L strong tea (3 bags for 15 min) with 30g of sugar in it
Random wine-type yeast. I picked up two sachets from the LHBS, one for cider and sparkling wine, one for red wine for my inmate brew. I think I put them in the wrong way round.
The recipe called for 5ml of lemon juice which I didn't have, but I reckon that it doesn't ferment so could be added at the end if the taste isn't quite right.
The polypin is fully inflated now, 12 hrs later, but there isn't enought pressure to start bubbling yet. I guess I didn't need to worry about the headspace.
It was ridiculously cheap and easy - give it a go!
