Slower ferment rate

Post by modofodo » Wed May 26, 2010 10:54 pm

Hiya,

I have started 2 wine kits late last night, both were fermenting by this morning.

They are a Beaverdale Barolo and a Mondego Medium White.

The medium white is bubbling at 13+ plops a minute the Barolo is about 3 plops. Both started approx same time, same temp etc.... I appreciate the yeasts etc will be different but was worried that the Barolo should be a bit more lively than it is? Temp has been pretty steady 21-22 C. Am I worrying over nothing? [-o<

As long as they are bubbling, they are fermenting so there is nothing to worry about. I find that I have never had two wines ferment at the same speed, even if they are the same type of kit & they are next to each other while fermenting.

I don't normally worry about these things - as long as they are plopping. It's prob because it is the most expensive wine kit I have purchased to date ;)

This morning it is up to 10 ppm (plops per minute) and the temperature is still just over 20 c. :D

Thanks for the reply!
