Well, the CastIron Brew is now going about once a second, and showing no sign of slowing down.
TC 2 appears to have stopped within 3 full days.
So I thought it couldn't hurt to add half a teaspoon of yeast nutrient to it, and low and behold, a slow but steady glop and an increase in the gas bubbles around the meniscus. Hopefully this increase will allow it to fully ferment out and get the most out of it.

Seems ok. The first still pint was mighty tasty, waiting for carbonation to complete then will give the fizzy stuff a go.

Fermentation appears to be nearly over and it looks to be starting to clear. Going to leave a few more days and see if it clears fully in the DJ or whether I need to rack before bottling.

The Lidl CastIronBrew has cleared all by itself in the primary DJ, so is now bottled.
1 2ltr PET and 4 500ml PETs for easier drinking later.
Saved a drop as a taster and like a medium dry white wine in taste with an after taste and aroma of IronBrew.
Should be quite pleasant and mellow when aged a little.

Batch 3 TC is also starting to bubble. Spiced this one with Clove, Star Anise, Dried Chilli and Cinnamon stick to see what that produces.

hehehe dried chillie

I was only saying to the other 1/2 on sunday as we walked around Morissons (as I was eyeing up the shelves to see what was fermentable) "I wonder what red, yellow and orange bell peppers would be like as a brew?"
If you slice them up and leave them in the fridge for 4-5 days, they get sweeter and juicier.... add them to a few litres of grape juice?????

Let us know how the ironbrew goes, cause i'm interested in that 1 myself.

for a cheap trial, give the hard lemonade a go.
8 lemons chopped and simmered in 4l water for 20 mins (give em a good bashing with the spud masher)
sieve and add 1k of sugar
cool and put in dj with a spoon of nutrient and spoon of wine yeast
top up with some boiled water after initial ferment
mine should be 9% when stopped at 1010 for a bit of sweetness and cost £2.50 all in

Oh the hard lemonade sounds good will need to try that and a fiery ginger beer.
I have in my own mind, that a fermented cola might be "interesting" and Tesco have started doing their own "fiery" chili cola. I fancy trying that.

Well, the CastIron Brew is poured and pint half consumed and you know what, it isn't half bad.
Quite dry, slight aftertaste I can't quite place, but like a medium dry sparkling wine.
