cocnut rum kit help!!
Hi everyone new to here as well as just starting to make our own wines through kits, we do however have a problem that we hope someone would be kind enough to help us with we have a coconut rum kit nearly finished the problem is the charcoal that we had to add about half way through, it is ment to clear in 2/5 days, this was about 5 days ago and shows no sign of clearing we had it in a room with no heating but have been told this still may have been too warm, have we ruined it in some way or can we somehow salvage it?? hope to hear from someone soon, dawnmarie

Re: cocnut rum kit help!!
Dis you degass it before before adding the charcoal? are there any finings with the kit?
Re: cocnut rum kit help!!
yes we did degass it and yes we added the finnings just how it said.
Re: cocnut rum kit help!!
no, not really, just about 1cm at the top, do you think ill have to filter it? we have made 4 diff wines from kits and all turned out great so really dont know whats happened with the rum

Re: cocnut rum kit help!!
If I where you I would buy a sachet of youngs wine finings, it has part A and part B and comes in an orange packet or better still some Still Spirits Turbo Clear, just make sure you give the brew a vigorous stirring to get rid of any CO2 and then follow the instructions on the pack, you can get it from here http://www.wineworks.co.uk/product/turbo-clear/
