Put a TC on on Sat - bit unusual as Aldi ran out of Apple Juice. So I bought 16 litres of Apple and 4 litres of Pineapple Juice.
I also put Marmalade and Honey in it.
Pitched the yeast at 26C - the packet said it was ok up to 30C. Its a Munich dry yeast from Danstar. No activity on Sunday and nothing last night. So I dry pitched another packet. Still nothing tonight - its sat at 17C at the mo - I've roused it with a spoon. Do I need to break out the emergency aquarium heater or is is knackered. I've got one last packet that I may make a starter with.
Any ideas. Cheers folks - off to the pub to drown my sorrows.

Re: TC help required please
Should be ok. I'd be surprised if you didn't see anything tomorrow. If no fermentation has taken place there would be nothing wrong with giving a it a good thrash instead of a a gentle rouse to get some oxygen in there. In any case, when I dry pitch onto TC it's normally a couple of days before it gets going.
You did check all juices and the marmalade for preservatives, yeah?

Yes, I was gonna ask .. are you sure it was juice from concentrate...if so, maybe just warm it a bit above 17 to help...
I actually use safale in my tcs....I'm happy with results from it and it gets going quite quick..
It'll be ok tommorow , I'm sure....

Hi Guys- thanks for the replies. I boiled the marmalade to kill any nasties. Still nothing this morning despite my emergency heater going in at 24C.
So I'm thinking there are some preservatives in there. The only difference between this one and the previous 4 is the unknown Apple juice I had to buy as they had run out of the cheap stuff. So that could be the offending item. What do you think about me chucking it in my boiler and giving it a good boil for say 60 mins. I could top up the volume so I can afford to lose some. Its my last ditch attempt to save it - otherwise I'll have 40 pints of fruit juice at best or 40 pints of cider vinegar at worst.
Not happy.
Edit: After doing some research on here - its going into the boiler tonight. 60 mins should do it - crash cool and pitch again.

Edit #2 - scratch that its off and running - raising the temp did the trick. Thats the longest I've ever waited for a brew to start - 4 days.
