Old fruit wine

Got this baby on the go on Sunday 10th for £3.00. 2kg grapes and 3 apples from the fruit stall going cheap due to overripeness. Plus 5 of apples that have been haunting the fridge since the missus last thought fruit was something you ate. [-X

2kg grapes
3 x golden delicious
4 x braeburn
1 x bramley
1kg sugar
1/4 tsp tannin
1 tsp citric
2 tsp pectolase
1 crushed campden
half tsp nutrivin nutrient

OG 1088.

smashed the fruit up with the bottom of a wine bottle, dissolved 1kg sugar in 1L hot water, poured 2L cold water over the pulp, added the hot water and stirred. Stirred in the rest of the ingredients and let it sit 24 hours.

Further mashed with a potato masher and added a slug of gervin gv1 yeast starter. It's now going a bomb.

I have some dried rose petals left over from the missus' valentines roses (nothing is wasted that can be fermented in this house) which I intend to add at around SG 1010.

Nah not this particular fruit combination. I've got some strawberry and some kiwi and some plum that are all off fresh fruit. Some carrot(!?) too. Just saw the fruit going cheap and thought what the hell.

White grapes. i know you're not supposed to ferment white traditionally on the pulp but I dont have a juicer or a press so sod it.

There are always more DJs. 97p from asda. 5L mineral water bottles, or asda-johns as my mate refers to them. thriftyshopper grommits, a drill or a hot piece of metal to make the hole and an airlock and you have a well cheap setup. The water inside I use for beer.

I have 16 of these now, god help me.
