Oh and once you have the gin racked off the fruit try adding the fruit to a bottle of sherry, it's blooming nice after a few months. I've also seen recipes for ginned sloe crumble... Hic.

Ginned Sloe Crumble, this just gets better and better. I might have to do Slider and then chuck them into a crumble though, or split 50/50 and do a slider and a sloe gin and apple crumble. =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~

Bottled my Sloe Gin last night. I only used 4 bottles of Gin but the extra sugar boosted the volume and gave me 5 bottles out which I'm really pleased about as it tastes great.

To further the sloes I then poured in 2.5 litres of AJ and a packet of Cider yeast. Not much had started by this morning just the first signs of some fine bubbles but hopefully the yeasties will fire up and give me something to smile about.

Might stretch to a ginned slidered sloe and apple crumble once this has fermented out.

Excellent post, I'm just a week or so from bottling my own sloe gin some of which is 'straight' (gin+sloes+sugar) while some is spiced with cloves and cinnamon. I'd hoped to make slider but I forgot to start some off before christmas  So, tomorrow will be spent kicking off a few demijohns of turbo cider which may not be perfect but I can't bring myself to waste the gin-soaked sloes.

Graham. Those flat bottles with the swing tops are ideal, any idea where I can get some?

Whoa!! They seem a bit pricey at £3.99.

I think IKEA do some cheaper swing top bottles.

My Slider is nearing the end of fermentation now. Can't wait to get a taste and see what its like. [-o<

Them's the badgers! I know they're a bit pricey but I plan to give some away as a gift so that'll work.

Hi try Ebay there are 2 types available fresh at the right time of year (people are now growing them as a harvest) or dried but in the case of the latter (Youngs are the manufacters) the seller was uanble to tell me what the equivalent amount was fresh.

I don't know if many people have tried this but I always use my used sloes for Sloe Cider. When you empty out the gin just reffil the demijohn with Cider. Dry is probably best as it goes well with the sweetness of sloe gin.
