grape wine
Hi, if all goes well i look like having a bumper crop of grapes(red, not sure of type) this year, I dont have a great record of wine making success, so wondered if anyone had a recipe/tips for making one from these.
no palate, no patience.
Drinking - of course

Re: grape wine
I do this every year with grapes from my own vines and those of a few relatives. You'll be amazed how far it goes.
1. wash all the grapes (not an easy task)
2. bung 'em in a bucket and then stand on them (traditional method!) or get my kids to stand on them
3. Leave all the pulp in, and add some camden
4. 24 hours later I pitch some wine yeast.
5. About a week later I strain all the pulp off and put the mixture in demi-johns. At this point I normally take the Gravity and add some sugar - it's not an exact science because some of the natural sugars will have already been converted.
6. Let it ferment out. Won't take more than a week or so.
6. Rack off into new demi johns.
7. When clear (again - doesn't take long) rack again.
8. Leave for six months, then bottle.
9. Drink whenever you fancy - although if you leave it a year it massively improves.
That's literally all I do - and to the average palate it's just as good as stuff you get in the shops. My grapes aren't even wine grapes.
Good luck
