i am thinking of doing a cider this year and have heard that i can pulp the apples with a garden shredder. how clean does this have to be? clean or sterile clean? my shredder is very powerfull and has been used often in the garden. will i be ok to use it? many thx Ian

I dont steralise the shredder, just strip it down and clean it. then i add campden tabs to the juice. As for the shredder, i have 2 'identical' units. one can pulp apple and spit it out the end without any problems - the other blocks constantly. both look the same and spin in the same direction. best give it a try with a few apples before cleaning so you dont waste your time.
hope this helps

Just make sure you use a circuit breaker and dont overload the machine!
