Pomegranate Wine

Post by DeadFall » Wed Apr 24, 2013 7:50 pm

Lidl have PJ at 79p Litre right now, not sure how much it's been watered down or mixed with other juices.

Does anyone have a recipe or ideas on how to make this into wine? I'll go and buy a load when the monster is in bed and report back on juice content. I'm thinking that I'll need a bit of cold tea to provide some tannins, maybe some lemon juice too?

The PJ is 33% juice with a few additions. It's pretty tasty.

3Lt PJ.
1Lt lidl red grape juice.
1tsp yeast nutrient
620g of sugar to make a 1080 must.
Gervin red wine yeast (all I had)

Will see how it goes.

I have one on the go, I went for 1 pomegranate, 3 white grape and 500g sugar, citric, tannin, yeast and nutrient. Been bubbling for a couple of weeks. Looks reddy orangey, should be about 12%.

I think it might need a bit of tannin too. I'm heading to the home brew shop today and will pick some liquid tannin up. I can always add it later. I'm going to get some non-fermentable sugar for sweetening to taste too (I can't stand stabilizer, I'm sensitive to the flavour and it gives everything a bubblegum taste).
