Airlock

started a wine kit yesterday been in the fermentor bin now 32 hours still no bubbles in the airlock opened it up earlier today has a thick head on it any ideas ? temp is around 21 c in the room

I now have bubbles coming thru the airlock maybe temp in kitchen cupboard was slightly low its chugging along nicely now ! do I have to empty airlock or is that purely air I have the airlock half filled with water

The airlock is there to let CO2 out, but stop spoilage organisms from getting in. It also gives you a crude way of telling how the fermentation is progressing. You may need to top the water up if it dries up - not too much or it can blow out of the airlock! :wink:
