Winemaking books - any recommendations?

For any alcoholic brew that doesn't fit into any of the above categories!

its easy to slag off the cjjberry books because they are old and trillions of copies have been sold and that doesnt appeal to the inverted snobbery of the average homebrewer - there are better but you could do worse so if someone offers you copy then recieve it with thanks.

..and then burn it?

I think he has little to offer modern wine brewers and that is an assumption I came to from reading his book but I'm all for freedom of expression so if people want to see for themselves then go for it!
Planning - Not for a long while

Fermenting - I'm Done

Bottle Maturing - Hobgoblin, Fullers ESB, American Stout, TOP, Fullers London Porter, Bandini Black IPA

Drinking - Still...Whiskey

I was passed a free copy of Berry's book and, having no experience at all in wine-making, found it clear, simple and entertaining. When I get round to wine maing I'll be using him as a base to start from.

He didn't sell all those copies for nowt (and I'm not after Pinot Grigio, I lke the idea of wine like my grandfather used to brew from parsnips and rhubarb

Just dug out the old ancient 70's winemaking book that I knew I had somewhere... Came from my dear Ma n Pa's bookcase I think. Lo and behold, its "First steps in Winemaking" by C.J.J Berry.

Best thing about it is the pictures...

This seasons favoured brewing attire is swimsuits, as this lovely lady clearly shows us...

Aparently, this one's pulping fruit. Stop smiling at the camera and look where you're drilling, yer mad cow!! It'll all end in tears...

And Mr Berry himself, all suited and booted so he can test his latest filthy TC while appearing "sophisticated"...

I have that edition - there are so many health and safety principles she's ignoring with the bucket. And she's clean. Would be much better if she were stark naked and covered in apple pulp

I have a 1933 (yes, 1933) paperback called 100 Home Made Wines - Simple Recipes For EVery Housewife. It has things in it like Oak leaf wine and Coltsfoot wine.

It kicks arse, but if you can get Phoebe Hitchens Wine Mans Bluff (circa mid 70s) thats a joy, too.
