I got tipped off by curious brew a couple of months ago that sainsburies were doing buy 1 get 2 free on princes...i emptied the shelf!.
Made the best ever TC ive had...still got 3ish pints left in barrel...clear as a bell, and.....i used safeale yeast which i was very happy with results!.
Added just 1 jar of honey and 1KG of whitworths...
It was and is the best brew of everything i ever made - worthy of a £20 beer kit imho...
Never will i do DJs again and puny amounts...you cant go wrong if you catch these offers and with Xmas coming up...theyll be on again soon :)

Can I just ask, why the honey?

Is it just to leave some sweetness behind after fermentation?
I personally like very dry cider 8)

I like the honey aftertaste and it does add a lot of body to what I think is quite a 'thin' drink if its just AJ

Hi...yes as geezah says...it does make it more of a fuller flavour...and even thou it wasn't a large jar...believe me, you can taste the honey flavours even in 40 pints of aj...
It's very worth while trying a small batch with honey...you will not be disappointed.
I would recommend trying safeale04 as well...its odd I know but it worked for me.

Thing is, I don't like honey :-&

How much 'after taste' does it give?
Suppose I could put a minimum in to try for a bit more body without the taste?

Yuk....

On the subject of TC cost,

I went into good old Lidl's last Thursday to buy up some AJ for a big 60ltr TC brew this weekend just gone.

lovely blond haired EE girl on the checkout and a bit of a queue. As I got to the till I clearly said "I have 40 of these" and gave her 1 carton of AJ.

She replied "14" To which I said "No, 40".

I then paid up the grand total of £11.46 for 40 cartons of AJ and 2 bags of sugar. The lovely young girl had still only rang in 14 cartons. It's not as though I did anything to hide the cartons and I said it loud enough for half the store to hear me.

Happy days :D :D
