I brewed some of this and used a whole kilo of sugar in it. I must have left it going for best part of a year, when I went to bottle it the airlock was empty and it'd gone off :(... gutted.

I started reading this , way back when it first started, so to save me trolling through all the posts, can somebody tell me the definitive recipe for this? :D :D :D

4500ml water.
1 bottle of unpronounceable polish raspberry stuff.
300-500g sugar.
1 tsp yeasties.

In the FV for up to 14 days then bottle with a carby drop. ignore for another 10 days. Drink. Fall around a lot. :)

Sugar according to taste, i used 300g and it was dry and bitter, so anything up from that is probably going to be sweeter.

edit:added a nought. :)

I've not been able to find one of these polish raspberry syrups yet. May have to ask a mate at work who goes to a polish shop each week.
Have picked up a rather posh looking raspberry and grapefruit cordial from waitrose, no preservatives or gunk in it. Will give it a go......just need to buy another one. No spare demijohns at mo, so er.... Drunk it. It's lush

Hi, I have been noseying around for a while and as a bit of a novice I thought I would I would give this a bash with raspberry bottle

I followed directions and recipe, simple as can be and ended up with a pretty slow starter for which I blame a cold room. Wrapped it in my blanket and added 1tsp of yeast nutrient . Two days on I am having to keep an eye on it incase of a blow out. Im using a 1 gallon PET so no real biggy. It does however smell strong but I do love the smell of raspbs.

P.S I also picked up two 500ml bottles of a coridial that was on offer in Tesco. It was to for 3.50 or something like that. I got them as a) they had different flavours b) they were all natural ingredients. The only preservative was sodium diox, off the top of my head.

I started one, apple and plum, but I didnt boil it because I couldnt be arsed and I wanted to see if it inhibited fermentation but no its going canny. Iused same recipe as Polish stuff but ammended sugar to suit, it looks canny and smells like a weird can of Apple Tango. There are a few flavours if anyone is interested. They all have similar sugar content at about 369g ish per 500 ml bottle. Im starting the elderflower one once a dj or PET opens up.

i too like to make my own labels. polish shops if you can find them usually have a few varieties. mine has strawberry, raspberry, cherry, blackcurrant and orange. they stopped selling the lemon, apple and cola varieties as they were not selling enough.

i made a 9.5% orange and lemon once, rocket fuel and very drinkable once you get past the first mouthful. i am gonna do some hunting for other varieties.

also, i came a cross a chocolate syrup with no preservatives that i think would go well in a stout. not so sure about just brewing it on its own though. alcoholic chocolate doesnt sound very appealing but may be worth the experiment.
