eh!
I was waiting on the spanner so I can rack my beer to my King Keg. I thikn one of my problems last time I used my KK was that the lid wasn't on tight enough so I very slowly lost pressure.
I can rack off and the fermenter is free for use
All makes sense when you know the full story
Thanks for the advise, I'll use the Beer Yeast.
Will the Champagne be good for anything else (a high gravity beer perhaps?)

Think I have a couple of spare seals knocking around so I'll give this a go. Thanks

Might throw in some yeast nutrient as well - can't see that doing any harm

Well, I have started the TC
20 Litres Morrisons Apple Juice (the cheap variety)
500g Light Brown Sugar
500g Dark Brown Sugar
2 tspn Yeast Nutrient
2 Sticks Cinnamon
Got an OG of 1.066 - should be some wickedly powerful stuff

Well my TC has been fermenting for almost a week now and it is showing no signs of slowing down.
There is still quite a large head of krausen.
The strange thing is that the gravity hasn't actually changed that much.
OG 1.066 but is now 1.042
It was the same over 24 hours ago when I checked.
I never saw my first TC ferment as I was away. This is possibly quite normal. It is also possibly too cold. NM I'll let it carry on

My TC took a good fortnight to ferment and even then there still seemed to be some slight activity. The room it was in fluctuates between about 20c and 22C so I think it was warm enough (I was going to change the name from Turbo Cider to Moderately Quick but not Rushing Cider). In the end I placed it the garage and the cold weather cleared it 24hrs.
I bought 8 litres of asda apple juice for 4 quid the other day so plan to get some more going over the weekend.

Bubbling away nicely. Found an old 5l bells bottle in the attick whilst getting the Christmas stuff down. Not as if TC is ever a spare of the moment thing
As you can see from the beer lin, my cornie is empty
1 gallon batch of Hefe in little white bucket too.

I used one of those for bottling my first ever kit about 20 years ago when I was still at my parents house.......you guessed it, a couple of days later it exploded

My mum went mental - it still makes me smile!!!

It must be adictive
I am on my third batch of TC now

it's good but a bit dry(understatement)
Question for the TC experts, has any one tried using granulated sweetner after fermentation has finished, the stuff that we have lists the ingredients as aspartame and malto dextrin. I know aspartame is unfermentable and as it is the moltodextrins left in beer that give mouthfeel and residual sweetnes could this be the way forward?

Had a batch on now for 4 days, 8L of morrisons apple juice, 8L was on special, using Deadlydes' original recipe. It had an eight inch head in my 23L carboy! and is still bubbling 4 times a minute. Hope the anticipation is not misplaced.

I have seen the use of these sweeteners recommended on this, and other forums...seems to be the way to get past more fermentables in an already dry cider
