BB 'S GINGER BEER
It's bottled, and is carbonating well. In fact, I am worried it may explode so am letting it carbonate in a plastic fermenter, and periodically let off some pressure when the bottle feels a little "stressed". It smells good, and will be ready to taste next weekend.
I have just started another plant with ground ginger as per your recommended recipe DRB. I will have lashings of ginger beer at this rate!
I'll keep you posted.

I've just taken a sneaky taste of the fresh ginger beer. Don't know whether it is too early?
It's carbonating like a beast, and isn't "gingery" enough for me. It's nice, but the ginger taste is subtle rather than strong (as I like it). So, using fresh requires a lot of ginger. I was adding about two teaspoons of finely chopped fresh ginger per day.
The ground ginger plant will be ready for bottling on Sunday.

It was DRB's recipe I used andy:-
1.Plant: 3/4 pint boiled luke warm water + 2 tspn sugar + 2 tspn ground ginger + 1 tspn bread yeast in coffee jar (keep lid loose)
2. Feed plant every 24 hrs for 7 days: 1 tspn ground ginger + 1 tspn sugar
3. On day 7, boil 1 pint water, ad 1 lb sugar + juice of two lemons - mix and add 6 pints of cold water
4. Pour liquid only from plant (filter out crud) into mixture
5. Bottle and leave in a warm place for 2 weeks. Keep top loose on bottle to prevent explosions during first few days.
6. Cool and serve your lashings of ginger beer with cakes and scones!
