Youngs Cider

Post by johnnyk » Tue Apr 28, 2009 9:01 pm

I just tried my first cider brew (Youngs) and was very impressed. It is only a few days since I've chilled it but I must admit it was good.

It is very light in colour to what I thought it might be but will make again for sure.

Anyone recommend any other kinds of cider kits?

Dreadskin sounds madder than usual (Only joking there mate) ;)

The New Zealand Cider was good if you like dry cider!

Gotta say I agree with Dreadskin, Go buy some cheap as chips AJ and brew your own. Mine turned out stonking.

20L Tesco Value AJ
1-2L Strong Twinning Earl Grey Tea (Made from Leaves)
6 Large Grated Bramely Apples
1 Packet of Rehydrated Cider Yeast

My wife likes more of a session Cider as opposed to a blow your socks off Cider so the gravity was 1052 with no additional sugar added.

Still went down to 1006.

Added 1L of AJ to prime and bottled. It now been 3 weeks and the stuff I tried last night I would not be able to tell of it was shop bought or home made. Nice fizz to it Clearish but not cloudy and for me it actually tastes pleasant in the sense that I don't really go for cider but this I will happily drink as I did last night because I couldn't be arsed to go and get a pint of beer from the garage...

In fact I'll go and get a picture for you and add it to this post to show how good it can be....lol

Only problem is now I've poured it I guess I'm going to have to drink it.. What the hell its Sunny in the garden and and its bound to be a social drinking time somewhere in the world....Isn't it?

Cheers
