How long to condition TC

Post by Big Al » Thu May 21, 2009 2:29 pm

I am curious as how lond to condition my TC before drinking.
I have left it 3 weeks at present in plastic bottles and they have gone solid so I know
they have carbonated properly.

So how long do you think I should wait before sampling??

I usually wait until it has cleared, around two weeks. A lot of the people on here drink it straight from the DJ anyway!

I'm liking the sound of that, I have the exact date of bottling, recorded at home but it is clear and I am sure it is over 4 weeks. Just tempted to give it a try :-D

plus I', bound to be starting my next batch of TC in the next week or two.

Others may disagree but I don't really think it improves much with age. I mainly knock it out as a way of making my beer last longer anyway!

I have found that when made with honey it takes a little longer to condition and clear.

It's known as turbo cider for a reason ;)

I'd try the first batch first.

If you suffer from any of the following symptoms then you may not want to brew another.

Saharan Tongue
Facial Gurning Syndrome
Stomach burbling
Liquid Poop Condition
Dizzyness
Death!

Enjoy!

well unless death kicks in ;-)

Drink it right away and make notes, revisit every week.
With "real" cider there is a definite improvement curve up to 4 to 6 weeks, then stasis for 6 months if bottled, then a decline. In my experience, anyway.
