Cherry Wine???

Post by dandan » Wed Jun 17, 2009 5:19 pm

Everytime I go shopping I now tend to look at things and think 'that could be used for wine', yesterday I went to lidl for some apple juice to make some TC! and instead came out with:
some Marston's Burton Bitter (99p each)
some red grape juice and white grape juice (about 80p each they have been reduced by 4p I think!!)
and two of these jars of Cherrys in syrup (99p each)

Anyone have a recomended recipe to make a cherry wine??

Sweet black angel is very sour and extremely dry - you can make it less so by using five alive berry burst instead of cranberry as it contains non fermentable sweetners.
I made this one a while ago with the same cherries from lidl, now trawling my way through it. Made it with cranberry & grape juices, then topped up with five alive after I racked it off. Bottled and primed. The result is somethink akin to a slightly sweet fizzy red wine, but not as full on as a red wine. TBH its not overly sour, I cant really taste the cherries, so go for 2 jars and it might have more of a hit.

Give it a try, if you dont like it just palm it off onto someone else...
