Jacques bottles... Should I or shouldnt I?

Post by timothio » Sun Jul 05, 2009 8:41 pm

Greetings...

Since discovering that I can drink Jacques fruity cider like it were some form of thirst quenching squash, I've got more than one or two empty bottles lying around. And seeing as my recycling box was nicked the other day I havent got anywhere to put them.

So... Do I or dont I use them for bottling my next TC?? They're 750 ml glass bottles, with metal screw tops. My instinct says No!! Those flimsy metal tops wont hold! But my conscientious nature says No!! You cant chuck them into landfill!

Input, anyone?

What do you mean, "ONLY for TC"??

Why, if you weren't a moderator Garth, I'd put you over my knee and give you what for...

sorry mate, that probably sounded wrong, I'm not dissing TC, I've made several batches myself, Cranberry came out quite good if a bit dry.

what I was meaning is that they shouldn't suffer from lightstrike the way beer can......

anyway, if the 'over-the-knee' thing is still on offer.................... :D

I got six bottles of this stuff cheap to see if the wife would be interested in the tipple. Too sweet for her really but it was drunk and the bottles have been used for 2 x TC's so far with no issues. The only problem I have with them is the damn labels are a nightmare as once you peel off the plastic labels they leave a sticky rubber like glue that can only be removed with white spirit..

Cheers Tequilla, I'll give 'em a try, but I wonder if your bottles are somehow different? Mine have paper labels that come of real easy, not plastic ones...

been using those bottles for a while. i have had one bottle in particular on the go for 2 years. they are great, and can withstand internal pressure... unlike buckfast bottles (never again).
