trial and error

Post by elphias » Tue Jul 21, 2009 3:08 am

dont know where to put this so thought id put it here, been reading these forums for a while now being making tc for a while (a few sore heads to prove it  ) so thought id have a crack at something different :?: . Dont know how itll end up but heres the recipe

2 lts bottled still water
1 ltr peach sparkling water
10 fruit tea bags (strawberry & mango)
2 green tea tea bags(dont know why had them at hand)
1kg of sugar
1 teaspoon yeast nutrient
1 teaspoon yeast
squirt of lemon juice

been in demi-john for a few hours now and to my surprise the airlock is plip-plip-plip so thinking of leaving it for about 7-10 days, bottle then leave for another week, anyone with a bit more experience want to comment feel free

What sort of yeast did you use?

My guess is that you'll have a weak wine at the end of it. The sparkling water probably won't add any fermentables (most have artificial sweeteners) or fizz (I'd expect the CO2 to "fall out" during fermentation), but on the other hand, the sweeteners will help prevent this being totally rough! You'll certainly have some alcohol at the end of it, but my inclination would have been to put more sugar in and go for a (fruit) tea wine.

Good luck. Looking forward to hearing what you get out of the other end.

got this bottled today mainly because the airlock was down to about 1plip a min, had a taste whilst transferring pleasantly surprised  sweet with a little warmness in the belly if that makes sense so carn't wait to try after another week in the bottles :)

Don't worry Elphias, its a ll trial and error and if you don't experiment then you'll never know will you? You might just hit the jackpot with the next brew. :)
