TC Grape Juice mistake?

Post by BritishBelgianTwst » Mon Aug 03, 2009 7:52 am

Hi,

I realised when making my first TC that I may have dropped a bollock. I used red grape juice instead of (I'm now presuming) the regular white and so it doesn't look anything like cider!
Anyone else done a TC with red grape juice?

It's currently bubbling away nicely and smells summery so I'm not too worried but I think I'll try it with white grape juice next time!

For info my final recipe for this was:

3 litres (and a bit to top up) AJ
1 litre Red grape juice
1 strong cup of tea (2 bags)
Two handfuls of blackberries (found in the garden)
250g sugar
Bread yeast found in the cupboard

I reckon this'll be about 8% when it finally ferments out.

I'll let you know how it tastes when I bottle it - I don't think I'll bother racking it, I'll leave it cloudy.
Drinking: Corny 1 - some beer
Corny 2 - some more beer
Bottled - a few different beers
Planning: TC
Elderberry wine

I dont think it makes any difference but I have used lots of different types of juice apples, cranberry, grape, pineapple etc, ok so it dont look like cider but it might taste nice. What I have found out here is its good to experiment. Hope this helps but Im sure someone with more knowledge of it will let you know for definate.
cheers now
