Little word - encouragement to TC'ers to try FMC
Little word - encouragement to TC'ers to try FMC
If you make Tc, and love it, and haven't made proper, real cider before using the full method then remember the apple season is nearly upon us and it really is worth a try!!!
I mean, i love my tc, but my full method cider tastes better, is far more complex, and MEANS so much more.

I'd love to do the FMC but dont have the press and, more importantly, the time to do it!
Re: Little word - encouragement to TC'ers to try FMC
I and Jabberwoc just had a discussion about bottle jacks. We seem to have experimented with TC just in time to build up enthusiasm to put together an apple press in time for apple season.
Have you outlined your FMC somewhere on this site?

I have a presentation somewhere, I will dig it out. I use a 15 tonne bottle jack.
Re: Little word - encouragement to TC'ers to try FMC
What kind of frame is going to withstand 15 tonnes? Don't you only need .2 or .5 of a tonne to get juice out of the apple mash?
I would like to see that presentation. i'm sure many others on here would too. The Breton cider pages on Jim's Beer kit are very interesting and informative, too.

I have to agree. Managed to get a corny full of fresh cider. Its far superior to anything bought locally, bottled or tapped. Long term project, apple tree will be planted.

find yourself a mate who is a drummer, beg an old drum of him and use it as the pressing chamber. build a tray, a fram. sut a pcircular piece of ply and get your bottle jack working... ive got mine in the attic ready to go!

Homemade press? Hmmmm interesting. Any chance of a pictoral how too? I have heard of using a large vice to make one.
Re: Little word - encouragement to TC'ers to try FMC
I lost my memory key with it on, which means I shall have to scan it. How do I post a pdf?
(yes, my bottle jack is way too powerful for the press but it doesnt half get the juice out!!)
