just a question about turbo cider and racking

Post by chris111 » Wed Jun 02, 2010 5:57 pm

hi guys.
first post so ...
anyways i have recently made a turbo cider batch of 10 litres. i then racked(?) into 2 litre bottles and primed them with sugar, about a week ago. however recently they have dropped a lot of sediment, which is easily disturbed, so i had the idea of re-racking, but then i would lose the fizz right, or could i just add more sugar and get the fizz back?

thanks for your patience :)

aye, when we say rackin we mean you rack it of into another container, wash out the sediment from the bottom of the other one then rack it back into the clean one. this will cause the rest of the yeast to fall out... then bottle.
you could try rackin off the stuff in the bottles, but that sounds like a massive pain in the arse...

yes it would be a pain. But would i be able to add sugar again to carbonate it..or would i have to settle for flat cider (not a bad thing i know)
