Marrow Brandy - recipe please

Post by silkyuk9 » Sat Oct 16, 2010 4:20 pm

Talking to a mate the other day and he said you can make marrow brandy by getting a very large marrow cutting the top of and scooping out the insides. filling the insides with brown sugar and sultanas or currants and some of the pulp then just leave it for several weeks until it ferments. This all sounds very good but im sure there is more to do.

So can anyoner enlighten me with a recipe that is similar to the above staement. cheers.

Hi,

Heard this same story from my dad, his mum used to make it.

I belive the marrow goes in some tights, and the liquid drips out into a bucket below, that's how they did it in the 1930's.

yeh, what i want to know though is do you pearce the marrow to begin with, to me the liquid will drip out pretty soon so there is no fermentation.
