turbo cider advice
hi everyone
first post here so sorry if this is gonig to be a daft question! I've got a couple of brews gonig just now, a white wine and a cider, both from kits. my husband has been doing far more reading into this than i have so far...but hopefully i'll get there. my friends are coming down for a weekend soon, my husband confidently telling them theyll be plenty of homemade cider for them to drink....without realising its next weekend theyre coming down! is there any turbo cider that i could make that would be ready in time? dont have any of the ingredients but i'll worry about that if someone can tell me if its possible to do in the timescale!
thanks

Re: turbo cider advice
I can only think of one solution. pop down ASDA and buy a few of the 3 Litre glass bottles of Westons Scrumpy.
Bring it home and pour it into convenient looking HomeBrew containers.
Serve and keep quiet.
Simples

lol thanks for the answer....hmmm might attempt that! i know this is a vague question with probably an even vaguer answer...but how long does turbo cider usually take from start to finish? could always make some for christmas....
Re: turbo cider advice
In the summer I was doing 1 gallon TC's from pitching the yeast to drinking clear, sparkling cider in 12 days.
You need some way of controling the temerature to get a fast (5 day) ferment, fast (5 day) secondary (if you want it fizzy) and then chilled in the fridge.
This was doing just apple juice or apple juice and honey.

Re: turbo cider advice
If you want a dry cider then champagne yeast is ideal. I'm sure Wine yeast would do the job, but I have never tried it so am not 100% sure.
Re: turbo cider advice
I use a wine yeast.... I have even used a bread yeast with good results

Re: turbo cider advice
I do it this way........
I pour 12 litres of apple juice into a fermenter,(I use an 18L water bottle that's used on water coolers in offices), add Youngs cider yeast, give it a good shake or stir and leave for around 3 weeks then bottle when nearly clear.

Search for dreadskins recipe which (my first attempt) seems to be working out quite well...
Try a few 2 or 5 litre versions by scaling the recipes as a lot of this stuff is personal taste. A few trial batches and you will still have plenty of time for a big batch for Christmas...
