Horlicks

Post by chrisstrong_86 » Sun Mar 25, 2007 2:35 am

Whenever I smell the sweet aroma of spray malt it makes me reminiscent of horlicks, so when i went to buy some i noticed all the extra additives.
has anyone tried to recreate Horlicks?
but without all the extra stuff:

Ingredients
Wheat Flour, Malted Barley, Dried Whey, Malt Extract, Sugar, Vegetable Fat, Lactose, Dried Skimmed Milk, Calcium Carbonate, Milk Proteins, Salt, Acidity Regulator (Potassium Bicarbonate), Vitamins (C, Niacin, B2, B1, A, Folic Acid, D, B12), Ferric Pyrophosphate, Caffeine-free

I'm thinking a mix of light spray malt, sugar and milk, tho maybe less sugar and more malt, (GSK prob make horlicks as cheap as poss).
+ perhaps an egg yolk, to thicken. An egg yolk added to real Hot chocolate (made with solid dark chocolate) is amazing!

there may be endless possibilities if you were to introduce various blends of the diffferent types of spray malt!

hmm maybe, i will try tonight, tho less sugar and more malt might also prove a similar effect.

Ok, made it tonight, tho I only had some geordie beer enhancer, wheat worked fine, havnt tried egg yet.

I want more maltiness and less sweet, maybe some darker spray malt, I dont think the dextrose in the enhancer helped tho!
