Caprio plus

New experiment for me!!

not had anything bubbling away for a few weeks so i thought whilst wandering around tesco with the wife and mutch to her dismay we were dawdling down the foreign food isle, an i happened to notice 2L cartons of juice called Caprio 2 of them for £2 so i got one of each.. apple and rasberry, and just apple. so whiles heating all this stuff up with the 450 grams of sugar i clocked a jar of "bulls eyes" thats been sitting in the cupboard for YONKS so in they have went to the mix also all 190g of em... recipie is as follows.

2L apple Caprio plus
2L apple an raspberry caprio plus
450 grams sugar
190 grams "bulls eyes" boiled sweets
450 mL boiled tesco still water (bought for car trip home but unused coz i already had some in the car)
a reasonable dash of blackcurrant highjuice ( to make the volume of the sugar/water/sweets boil add up to 1 litre )
1 tsp of the good ol trusty youngs wine yeast with nutrients thats been in the fridge for aaages pitched and active

boiled the juices to clean em out probably didnt need to but still... boiled up the 450Ml of water added sugar to make the solution and threw the boiled sweets in, took frikking aaages to melt em down and threw in some of the wains blackcurrant highjuice cordial to make up the volume, left to simmer for 15 mins and cooled.

bunged it in the dj along with the caprio plus, checked the SG its a bit higher than i'd like but we are starting off @ 1.065 will be bottling at 1.005 and clearing in bottles.
yeasties went in.. they are happy making babies and eating sugar it already has signs of life just 4 hours into it!
could be interesting.. also started another raspberry ade due to popular demand lol

Hahaaa I spyed some pear drop cordial in tesco and bought a bottle to try with a pear cider!
I love ur ideas, Ive never hurd of bulls eyes BUT LOVE the fact you had a go at it!

"Geezer" has taught me a great lesson. Anything with chemicals/presevatives in u should boil well
but after that all is good!

lol, bulls eyes are black and white stripey balls that taste sortof minty not unlike the old foxes glacier mints... no one was eating them so in the melt they went, i am aware that anything with preservatives needs boiled and a new principle of mine will be when experimenting.. if it melts and its sweet its going in lol i have some rowntrees peach jelly crystals that aint being used they might be in the next wonder what would happen with the gelatine content? might end up with dj shaped jelly

pear drop cordial with pears cider now thats a plan! bit too pink tho lol just noticed they do a cola bottle and sherbert flavour too hehe alchosweeties!!

recon the next one will be the modified perry pear, we shal see stay almost next door to lidles so i'll be raiding their for the ingrediants lol.

Yeah I got the cola bottle one too, but find it undrinkable! YAK, it tastes like fizzy cola bottles but is just wrong in a drink, was very dissapointed with it.

lol i was considering getting a fook load of cola cubes on the cheap from the market and melting em down and fermenting that along with the sherbert cordial, doubt the sherbert one or the cola bottle would be drinkable as a juice ( not if u was 12 tho probably the greatest thing on earth ) i remember some of the stuff i used to drink as a kid lol witches brew in the soda stream.. awsome lol wonder if i could still get some of that stuff it was an amazin green color lol

Soda streams are so ace.... the memories of making fizzy milk or fizzy vodka! (Neither of them were nice b4 you go rushing to try them)

I really hope that this experiement of urs works!

nah nah, not that mad... altho i was thinking about getting a new soda stream system... they are selling them in 'home bargains' nice an cheap. no fizzy milk or vodka scouts honour! i hope it works also.. only failure ive had so far is trying to hard for high abv with the blueberry stuff. need better yeasties for that kinda thing.

the caprio plus is fizzing away nice and happy, the melina however is going but so slowly... think my unboiled tap water could be resposible lol

Walking past the icecream man in the park today I had a burst of inspiration...
How about simply replacing the sugar in a brew with ....




I've been giving this topic a bit of thought and sorry if im buggin you

u kno that might actually be not so bad an idea lol... do the raspberry-ade recipie replacing the sugar with that, would probably turn out purple.. but the flavouring might give it a kick in the right direction and make it taste more raspberry-adey lol you should deffo try it.. maybe boil the sugar for a good week to kill of preservatives but if it works i'll give it a go, ive not seen any near me but a trawl round the sweet shops or macro might come up with some lol.
