Having been a Turbo Cider Afficiono for ages, and someone who normally makes lots of my own wine from fruit, this year i want to make my own Apple Cider and Pear Perry from scratch. I have 'found' a heavily laden pear tree nearby on some (ahem) 'public' land, and I also know where some apple trees can be found. Question is this.....
How do I press sufficient quantities of apples/pears? The commerically available fruit presses seem quite expensive (£100+), but I don't think Mr Jabberrwock's juicer will quite be up to the task!
Any suggestions of how to extract the juice if a reasonable quantity of apples/pears?
Fruit Pressing - any suggestiosn?

Nice one thanks.
See if I can bodge something together.

Re: Fruit Pressing - any suggestiosn?
first brew i ever made was cider using apples from the tree in our garden. I cut the apples into small pieces, liguidised it, then passed this threw a sift. Then, i got a tea towl, put a dolup of apple the size of my fist into it, and wrapped it in the cloth and twisted the end so it tightened onto the mash. This ok, didnt get 100% of the juice out, but it worked enough to make me quite a bit of cider.
Cheep and cheerful!
