Ok, I got given a bottle of cider for my birthday, from somewhere down in Cornwall, where they had brewed it, forgot about it, and then found it was delicious and have enough to bottle 3 barrels worth.
Its delicious, its called 'Healey's classic reserve cyder'.
It says they take their finest cider, and mature it in old oak whisky barrels.
Its incredibly mellow, has a slight appley flavour, but then this whisky/oak flavour comes through and is amazing!
Id like to try and replicate something similar, I'm thinking, some oak chips soaked in bourbon?
Anyone ever tried anything like this?

You can pick up old whiskey barrels on flea bay. Depending on how much you want to make, it could be an option.
