Apple,pear & vanilla cider

Post by pantsmachine » Mon Jun 18, 2012 6:42 pm

I have had a cider idea in the back of my mind for a while and today was the day. 18 ltrs AFC two tins of pear halves in syrup, 100 grmms sucrose, 2 vanilla pods hand picked by myself in Dubai at Xmas(these pods are dripping)! 2 tea bags soaked for 10 minutes in 1.5 ltrs of boiled water. Dilution gives me a wanted SG of 1.042. Yeast is a mix of Brett C and WLP 023. I am hoping i get something closer to sulphurous perry than normal pasteuried cider. Cheers! :D

Really sulphurous fermentation and very active indeed, high hopes!
