Wine Kit and Water.

Post by Eric » Fri Apr 12, 2013 8:00 pm

I'm about to try my first wine kit, a cheap one from Wilko, Chardonnay. I've never before made a wine worthy of the name.
Now my tap water is quite hard and very alkaline, such that it gets treatment to make some styles of beer from grain. Could the same apply to kit wines, as I doubt if any acid that might be desired in the final product could survive in my water.

I filter all my water for wine making Eric, using a water gem filter & I've been more than happy with the results. To be honest, I haven't looked into wine water treatment too deeply, if it ain't broke I'm not going to try to fix it.

Thanks HH,
From your earliest advice on this forum, we fitted a water filter to our kitchen supply. I think you might well have given the answer.
Thanks,
Eric.
