I've just fired off a mail asking about the 50 litre conical. If it's the right price I might be tempted to go for this over the Blichmann one. Despite telling Jon (TBE) last night that I am struggling to justify spending so much money on a fermenter.

The price on the Brouwland site is 564 Euros which works out, according to Google, at 372 quid. That's a hundred less than the Blichmann and it comes with a stand.

Hmmmm I seem to be talking myself into this..

Looking at the weld along the top of that fuel tank they have on ebay hope they would have a better finished weld on a conical

Looking at brupacks site and saw following
Grains should always be stored in a warm, dry place.
Is that right - my grain is probably at -2c out in the garage at the moment :?

I would have thought cool and dry would be best - neither extreme. The best thing to do is either buy just as much as you need in the next couple of months or to crush your own grain just as you need it. Whole malt does keep a lot better than crushed - but there is an expense involved in a grain mill.

You could always taste the malt before you use it. Fresh malt tastes different to slack malt.

Edit: According to Cargill malt in the US

http://www.specialtymalts.com/order_info/
Malt Storage
All grain suppliers do their utmost to provide a product that is insect free. However, once the product leaves their plant or warehouse, it is beyond their control. We recommend the following preventive measures:

* Inspect the malt area at regularly scheduled intervals. This is of particular importance when the room temperature is above 64° F.
* Malt should be stored in a clean, cool, dry area.
* To reduce the likelihood of insect activity, you may choose to fumigate periodically.
* For best results, we recommend using all milled products within 3 months and all whole kernel products within 6 months of receipt.

It will be interesting to see the UK price for this - I'm guessing it still might be competitive to get it shipped from Belgium.

I'd like to see the Brupaks one next to the Bilchmann to compare. The Bilchmann can be pressurised which is a plus. I don't know if the Brupaks one can.

It is nice to see an alternative to the Therminator in the UK market. If the Brouwland price is anything to go by, the new Brupaks plate chiller will be a lot cheaper than the Therminator.

Minikeg Starter Kit is hopefully a decent price. A couple of these would be great - easy to transport when visiting friends/family.
