How about a chip sarnie IN a humous, garlic, peppers and lettuce wrap? :D Liking the addition of extra garlic to humous there, too. Nice touch 8)

Sorry DaaB, I just tend to assume that everyone's as sarcastic as me!

Hope you feel better soon. Look on the bright side - it's going to be great for loosing weight :flip:

just had a reply from severn trent ;

Dear Mr Baker

Thank you for your e-mail regarding your water quality.

The only time we change water source is during major incidents such as
the
flooding in Gloucester last year. We will try to rezone water from one
area to another area if necessary.

We have not changed your water source and your water is listed as being
hard.

If you need further information you can contact us on 0800 783 4444.

Regards
Linda Evans
Technical Adviser

Severn Trent Water

our water is definitely softer than it used to be , whatever they say :=P

Rewinding a couple of pages... I said I'd report back once I had the results of subsequent brews in. Well, using the same malt and crush as the lamentable 64% efficiency brew the porter I've just done came out at 84%. I guess the low one was down to inconsistent and crap technique :)

Yes, quite true, although even before I got into treating water and measuring pH I never had an efficiency as low as 63%. Its a bit immaterial really as the beer still tastes good to me, there's just not quite as much of it ;)
