Kriek Beer Cherries or Concentrate

Post by Bazil » Thu May 29, 2008 2:03 pm

Hi,

Has anyone used Brewferm black cherry concentrate for there Kriek beer, I’ve got 40L split between two FV’s and was thinking of using the concentrate in one and cherries in the other or maybe a mixture of both.

So how much of the concentrate would you use per 1000ml, the instructions just say add to taste.

Cheers
Barry

I have used the Brewferm Kriek cherries in my own kriek beer.
Which reminds me I must upgrade that thread now that we are actually drinking it!

The whole lot went in one cornies worth of kriek beer and it was a big tin of cherries. It gave it a nice flavour but needed to be aged for a long time as it was a bit harsh. So I would do a whole container into one of the two FV. Otherwise if you push it to far you will just get a colour change but no flavour.

What you can do if you have the patience is take a measured quantity of beer 1/2 pint or so and slowly add measured amounts of the concentrate until you are happy and then scale it up to the full batch.
But I thought about it and then decided I am lazy and chucked the whole lot in one kegs worth.
