Does torrified wheat need to be crushed like malt, or is it added whole?

it should already be cracked, mine always has been when I've bought it from the hbs, the white insides should be visible, here's a photo of mine

Thanks. That answers the question. I either need to crack the stuff, or buy elsewhere! Didn't think it should go in whole.

Mine looks nothing like that!


It looks like rolled oats....can't take a pic as I am about 6000 miles away from it right now....

I've bought from three diffeent vendors - hop & Grape, Barley Bottom and my lhbs - and they've all looked the same, but none of them have loked like Garth's!

If it looks like rolled oats then it's flaked barley.

It's ok there are two production methods for producing torrified wheat ones look like the photo above and the other resembles flaked barley.
