Howdy folks,
Using lots of different calculators and getting different readings! Can anyone help please?
read 1.040 at 41c. Volume was 25L

Re: What is my efficiency?
I'm not getting involved after my last attempt to help.
As Chris has said without the recipe... also taking the reading in the boiler at high temperatures isn't going to be much use unless you are doing it pre-boil for the purposes of estimating final OG. IMO it's better to wait until you have reached the FV and the wort has cooled to 20°C.

Re: What is my efficiency?
Hi again.
I took the reading from 25 litres of wort just before the boil. The grain volume was 4.85 KG. Hydro read 1.040 at 41c.
Cheers lads

Re: What is my efficiency?
Chris that's the clearest explanation of efficiency I think I've seen!
The only thing I would add is that personally I prefer to work out recipes using an efficiency that doesn't include the losses from the boiler to FV. So for example I'd work out the OG based on 25L and then expect to only collect 23L in the FV. Mostly though I tend to work from experience that X amount of grain is going to give me a OG give or a take a few degrees.
I'll have to check Beer Engine out to.
