Hi, I'm back brewing after 11yr gap and -I'M LOVING IT!
I used to do Dave Line recipies but with the new H and G 10 gall kit I'm more interested in 100% all grain and no added bulky sugers at all
I want to tackle an Irish Stout next and go for 1048SG ish brew next time. What are peoples favourite malt blends and weights, Do people still lift a culture from bottled Guiness? What hop mix do people go for?
any and all ideas welcome

Welcome!
I also used to be a Dave Line addict many years ago.
Sadly Guinness is no longer bottle conditioned so it is no longer a good source of stout yeast. There are some other good sources of yeast in bottles. There is a recent thread that covers this. Alternatively, the huge change in homebrewing since you were last active has been the range and quality of wet and dry yeasts that are now available to us.
For recipe ideas get hold of Wheeler's new book and/or take a look through the recipe section of this form. I've got a Beamish Stout clone maturing atm. Already tastes great!
